The Brother's wedding has come and gone. For the rehearsal dinner, my mom, sister and I created delicious, wedding-inspired cookies. We used the recipe in the Pastry Queen Cookbook. They are so tasty and darling! Here's a shot of the final product...
Sopaipillas for breakfast, what a treat! My new favorite “only on the weekends” breakfast is a plate full of freshly made sopaipillas with plenty of honey and a side of scrambled eggs. The best part is dipping the eggs in the extra honey, a perfect morning combination of sweet and salty. Luckily, I brought home plenty of sopaipilla mix from Santa Fe – Sadia’s Sopaipilla mix. It is so easy!
Add water to the mix Knead dough until it is very smooth Let sit for 15-20 minutes Heat 3 cups of oil Cut dough into desired shape FRY! ;o)
These also make for a wonderful after dinner dessert!
Last Sunday, the parents were out of town, so the sister and I took on the task of making dinner. We were eating with the brother and the fiance, so it had to be tasty! While at the grocery store, we found some blueberries and strawberries that looked delicious, so we bought them not knowing what we would make. We were flipping through one of the Barefoot Contessa cookbooks, and decided to make cobbler. We followed the Peach and Raspberry Crisp recipe and just substituted blueberries and strawberries. The boys thought it was a strange combination, but let me tell you, they may have gone back for seconds, thirds and even fourths. It was delicious and easy!
We are a group of mothers and daughters from the Kansas City area that share a love of cooking and entertaining. Dinner Club MD is the result of wanting to record our dinner club menus and is a place where we share our recipes and entertaining and cooking advice. Along with these topics, Dinner Club MD is also a place to divulge our words of wisdom that are passed between mothers and daughters. Enjoy!
